Botnets
Botnet is a computer jargon term for a collection of software robots or "bots" that run autonomously. The term is often used to describe a collection of compromised, zombie computers that are running programs commonly referred to as worms, Trojan horses or backdoors, etc.
So how does this relate to your network? Since your company network is the backbone of your business, it should be protected.
Let's focus on security.
Protection:
Protecting your network with a powerful firewall that limits traffic going in both directions will help prevent malicious activity. Defense in depth should begin by addressing the firewalls and then layering the security which could mean desktop protection, antivirus, anti-spyware, and router protections among others.
Detection:
If we are monitoring your network, we have the ability to detect suspicious activity, we have the information to react quickly.
But does this really apply to your network?
Imagine a network collapse that could take days to fix. It doesn't have to be as dramatic as Botnets, but it is possible. We would like to help prevent that situation.
Google the term "Botnet" and "Network Security" and read about some of the situations. Security is a major issue, and a good defense is the best offense. It has been estimated that 1 in 4 PCs is infected with Botnets. Some links to articles are below.
