Handhelds and Mobile Computing

It's not a Blackberry.

Call it a hand held device, a handheld computer or simply a handheld. It is a pocket sized computing device and they are everywhere. And Blackberry isn't the only game in town. In fact, I want you to consider NOT getting a Blackberry.

Here is the recommendation. Leverage the investment that you have made in your technology and buy a Windows Mobile device. It can seamlessly integrate with Windows which means that your mail, task list, calendar and contacts (anything in Outlook) will be synchronized.

Most likely, you already own the components to make this happen.

Unlike other handheld solutions like Blackberry or Palm, a Windows handheld does not require special software and so the total cost of set-up, software, and networking is lower.

To follow is a list of devices that we like. For the record, ATS does not sell handhelds. But there are a lot of products out there and we have categorized a few by networks so that you know which products we think make good sense. Verizon may be the strongest network in town, but T-Mobile has the coolest device-the Dash. Take a look for yourself.

Talk to you soon,
Jim
